In 1928, a group of young farmers created "Future Farmers of America", but in 1988 the organization's official name was changed to "The National FFA Organization" to show that we are not only about farmers. Agriculture has grown into a widely diverse field, and the FFA recognizes that. We are not just future farmers, we are the future chemists, future biologist, future doctors, future vets, the future of any career we choose. We are the future of America.
On the local level, Galesburg Agriculture is the longest running Agricultural Education program in the state of Illinois. The program began in 1912, 5 years before the vocational education act came into law. Current class offering in the program include Horse Management and Aquaculture for one term offerings and Intro to Ag, Fish and Wildlife, Animal Science, Vet Science, Ag Leadership, and Horticulture as two term courses.
