Hardenberg Feathered Horse Farm field tripWill and Jenni Moser are owners of Hardenberg Feathered Horse Farm and were gracious enough to take off work in order to share a piece of their farm with us today! The farm raises Friesian horse and Fell Ponies, both a feathered breed of horses. "Feathering" refers to the long hair on the lower legs of both breeds. Both breeds are also known for their elegant movement and long, thick manes and tails. On the visit, students learned about the history of the farm, got to meet all the horses, practiced leading the horses, learned about horse safety, and watched a demonstration of lunging to view the gaits of the breeds. The students had a wonderful trip and we are very grateful for the experience gained on this trip! For more pictures, check out the Pictures page of the website. The Horse Management class visited Woodland View Farms on Wednesday, Sept 21st. The farm is owned by Brad and Betsy Larson. Betsy and Denise Sellers welcomed the group and had 3 demonstration horses ready and waiting. The students learned how to correctly approach and behave around the horses as well as how to correctly groom and saddle. The students were able to tour the farm, work with the horses, and love on the cats and dogs. After the students had ample time to work with the animals, Betsy told about the farm's history and gave and gave an overview of what their typical day looked like. Students left with a much better understanding of a day in the life in the equine industry.
